Lara Dutta

Lara Dutta Bhupathi born April 16, 1978 is an Indian actress, Goodwill Ambassador of UNFPA and the former Miss Universe.

Lara was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a father and an Anglo-Indian Punjabi mother. Her father is Wing Commander LK Dutta (retired) and her mother is Jennifer Dutta. It also has two older sisters, one of which serves in the Indian Air Force and a well known younger sister. Famous composer and DJ Nitin Sawhney is the cousin of Lara. The Dutta family moved to Bangalore in 1981 where she finished high school in St. Francis Xavier High School girls and Frank Anthony Public School. Lara graduated in economics with a minor in communications from the University of Mumbai. She was crowned Miss Universe in 2000 which led to his appointment as Goodwill Ambassador of UNFPA in 2001.

Lara dated New York Yankees star Derek Jeter when he lived in New York. There was seen in a baseball game at Yankee Stadium and the new was ESPN.

In September 2010 he became engaged to tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi of India. They were married February 16, 2011 civil ceremony at Bandra, and was later followed by a Christian ceremony, February 20, 2011, in Goa at Sunset Point.
