Kajol Devgan, popularly known as Kajol, is an Indian actress appearing in Hindi films. It is considered one of the most successful and talented actors of the Indian woman.

Kajol was born in Mumbai in the Marathi Bengali descent. His mother was an actress Tanuja, while his late father Shomu Mukherjee is a director and producer. Her maternal aunt is actress Nutan end, with which holds the record for most wins (five times) Filmfare award for best actress, and her maternal grandmother and great grandmother Rattan Shobhna Samarth Bai had been involved in film Hindi.

Her paternal uncles are film producers, Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. Kajol's paternal grandfather, Sashadhar Mukherjee was a director. Satirani his wife Devi, Kajol's paternal grandmother was the sister of Ashok Kumar, Anoop Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Kajol Rani Mukerji cousins, Mohnish Behl and Sharbani Mukherjee are also actors in Bollywood and that of his cousin, Ayan Mukerji is a leader. Kajol's younger sister Tanisha Mukherjee is also an actress.

Kajol married Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan, February 24, 1999. The couple has two children, a daughter named Nysa (born 2003) and a son named Yug (born 2010).

Kajol left school in the convent of St. Joseph in Panchgani, and began his career at the age of seventeen. His film debut was in 1992 Bekhudi, which was the failure at the box office. In 1993 he shot to fame in his second film, Abbas-Black Thriller Baazigar. The film has seen a co-starring alongside Shahrukh Khan, with whom he later went on to make a popular pairing in several films, all of which were box office successes.

His first release in 1994, Udhaar Ki Zindagi, was a failure at the box office, but his performance in the film won the Best Actress BFJA. She then played in his first collaboration with Yash Raj Films, the romantic drama Yeh Dillagi (1994). His performance as Sapna, a dreamy girl who leaves a strong father's house to his own life in the big city gave her a first nomination for Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards.
